Cancer is essentially an excessive growth of cells of a particular organ or tissue. Here the triggering factor is exposure to asbestos, a material formerly present in many work environments. This is why it is also called asbestos lung cancer. However, it may also be triggered by other substances such as irradiation, erionite [fibrous silicate] and thorium dioxide. People who are exposed to asbestos particles are very prone to this disease.
It occurs mainly in people who work in the construction industry, shipbuilding industry, automobile industry and other manufacturing industries where asbestos exposure is common. Why men are generally more affected because of the common presence of asbestos in industrial settings but this disease condition can be noticed in women too.
The latency of mesothelioma is up to 30 to 40 years, and many people previously exposed to asbestos are now showing symptoms. This means using the mesothelioma patients is between 50 to 70 years. Mesothelioma risk increases as age increases, but the disease can make its appearance at any age.

Overall mesothelioma is a disease of life-threatening and can not be processed. The sooner it is detected chances of a patient are best to fight against this deadly disease.
